I've spent a good amount of time sitting along the banks of Bass Lake just outside of Blowing Rock, NC. The water lapping on shore and the sound of the nearby wildlife was healing. Being quiet and observing allowed many opportunities to see wildlife up close. One day, this mother wood duck swam by only feet in front of me, barely making a wake in the glassy water.
